Petrochemical Processes Involve The Extraction Of Petroleum Products That Can Be Utilized For Various Uses Including Fuel And Chemicals. Petrochemical Products Are Generally Derived From Petroleum, Oil Shale, And Natural Gas, And Are Used To Manufacture Polymers And Plastics. Petrochemicals Include Molecules And Compounds Such As Methyl Alcohol (Methanol), Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Glycol, Propylene Oxide, Benzene, Acetone, Cyclohexane And So On. Petrochemicals Are Used In Production Processes For Various Industries, As They Are Utilised As A Feedstock, Enhancing The Properties And Performance Of A Range Of Materials. One Of The Most Common Petrochemical Processes Is The Fischer-Tropsch Process, Through Which Raw Hydrocarbons Like Natural Gas And Coal Are Transformed Into Liquid Hydrocarbons Like Gasoline And Diesel, As Well As Waxes And Lubricants, Through The Oxidation Of Carbon Dioxide. In The First Step Of The Process, The Raw Hydrocarbon Is Degraded Into Synthesis Gas, Which Is A Mixture Of Carbon Monoxide And Hydrogen. The Synthesis Gas Then Undergoes A Catalytic Reaction, Where The Molecules Are Rearranged, Transforming The Gases Into Oxygenated Liquid Hydrocarbons. Another Common Petrochemical Process Is The Cracking Process. This Method Takes Longer Hydrocarbon Chains And Breaks Them Down Into Shorter Ones, Increasing The Number Of Molecules And Allowing A Wider Range Of Products To Be Produced From The Petroleum Feedstock. This Are Used To Produce Gas, Petrol, And Diesel. Cracked Products Are Also Used In The Production Of Polymers And Plastics, Which Are Then Used In Various Consumer And Industrial Products. A Third Petrochemical Process Is Hydrogenation. This Process Is Used To Convert Oil Into More Usable Forms, Like Lubricants, Waxes, Greases, And Shortenings. Hydrogenation Reactions Involve The Addition Of Hydrogen Molecules To Unsaturated Molecules, Or C=C Bonds, Transforming Them Into Saturated Compounded With More Hydrogen Molecules. This Process Also Alters The Melting Point Of The Product To Create A Higher-Grade Product, Suitable For A Multitude Of Applications. Petrochemicals And The Processes Used To Produce Them Are Integral Parts Of Our Modern World. Petrochemical Processes Are Constantly Undergoing Refinement And Optimization, Improving The Yields And Resulting Chemical Products. This Technological Advancement Has Enabled The Petroleum Industry To Become One Of The Pillars Of Many Popular Products And Materials, Impacting Our Daily Lives In A Significant Way.
