Material Synthesis Is The Process Of Creating A Material With The Desired Properties Through Manipulation Of The Elements At An Atomic Level. It Involves A Combination Of Chemistry, Physics And Engineering To Design And Fabricate Desired Materials. By Precisely Controlling The Chemistry, Structure, And Properties Of Materials, Material Synthesis Brings A Greater Potential For Creating More Efficient Materials. Some Common Processes Used In Material Synthesis Include Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Atomic Layer Deposition And Electroplating. CVD Is A Chemical Process Used To Deposit Thin Films Onto Surfaces. In This Process, Chemical Precursors Are Heated To Create A Vapor Phase, Which Is Then Deposited Onto A Substrate. Atomic Layer Deposition Utilizes A Series Of Chemical Reactions To Build Up A Thin Film Of Atoms One Atomic Layer At A Time. This Process Results In A Uniform And Extremely Thin Film. Finally, Electroplating Uses Electrical Current To Deposit A Thin Layer Of A Metal Onto An Object Or Surface, Allowing For Parts Of Higher Purity To Be Produced. By Combining Different Chemical Processes, Materials Of Various Shapes And Sizes Can Be Synthesized. This Process Can Give Rise To Entirely New Materials With Tailored Properties To Those Desired. While This Process Can Produce A Wide Range Of Materials, It Also Has A Wide Variety Of Applications Such As Electronics, Photovoltaics, Biomedical Devices, And Optical Coatings. Through Material Synthesis, New Materials To Advance Technologies Further Have The Potential To Be Discovered.
