Mouthwash formulation based on wild olive Extract “olea europaea sylvestris”

Speaker at Chemistry World Conference 2026 - Demmouche Abbassia
Djillali Liabes University, Algeria
Title : Mouthwash formulation based on wild olive Extract “olea europaea sylvestris”

Abstract:

Problem Statement: Conventional mouthwashes often contain antimicrobial chemical agents and other synthetic compounds, which may potentially present long-term health risks.
Solution: In response to the growing demand for natural products, the objective of this project is to develop an innovative mouthwash based on wild olive leaf extract, providing a natural alternative to traditional chemical mouthwashes. This product aims to meet the expectations of health-conscious and environmentally aware consumers while leveraging the therapeutic properties of the plant and enhancing the potential of local plant resources.
Results: The findings suggest that wild olive leaf extract exhibits significant antibacterial activity against both pathogenic and non-pathogenic strains, with variable efficacy depending on:
The bacterial species
Their sensitivity to the extract
The diffusion degree of the antibacterial agent and the growth rate of microorganisms
Formulation:
Ingredients:
Raw Wild Olive Extract
Ethyl Alcohol (ethanol)
Distilled Water
Flavoring: Menthol / Eugenol
Preservative: Vitamin E
Conclusion: Our wild olive-based product represents a promising innovation in the field of natural oral care. By harnessing the antibacterial properties of oleuropein and other bioactive compounds from this iconic plant, we offer an effective and natural solution for preventing oral infections and maintaining good oral hygiene. The development and commercialization of our product align with a broader strategy of raising awareness and educating about the benefits of natural ingredients for a society increasingly concerned with health and the environment. Together, we are shaping the future of oral care towards more natural, effective, and sustainable solutions.
