Title : Traditional chemistry makeup through green and sustainable methodologies
Abstract:
The fundamental role played by chemistry and chemical processes in the basic requirements of the biosphere and humanity cannot be denied or dispensed with. It is clearly visible as a backbone of human civilization throughout successive and continuous ages. Despite this, traditional chemical processes are always accompanied by risky, harmful effects and bad reputation practices on the surrounding environment with all its components. This cannot be denied or overlooked, especially when applying environmental and public safety standards. Green Chemistry, “the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances”, applied across the life cycle of a chemical product, including its design, manufacture, use, and ultimate disposal, hence, would make up the bad tenured face of the traditional chemistry. If a technology reduces or eliminates the hazardous chemicals used to clean up environmental contaminants, this technology would also qualify as a green chemistry technology. Sustainability, “the quality of causing little or no damage to the environment and therefore able to continue for a long time”, the shining title, are in parallel with Green Chemistry in its missions, goals, and objectives. Therefore, the biosphere and all its components are in dire need of applying the principles of green chemistry and commands of sustainability in all chemical practices and processes to meet safety requirements and environmental standards, as well as, to achieve the requirements of human civilization without violating the elementary standards for the safety and welfare of the biosphere. Entirely, the concept of both Green chemistry and Sustainability should be implemented thought, academia, study plans, research, application, industry and economics.
