Biography:
M. A. Fazal earned his bachelor's degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, in 2007. He completed his PhD in Materials Engineering at the University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia, in 2011. Until 2016, Dr. Fazal served as a senior lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at UM. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Jeddah (UJ), Saudi Arabia, where he also held the position of Associate Professor from 2019 to 2024. Professor Fazal's research interests focus on advanced materials, renewable energy, and sustainability. He has supervised seven master’s theses and two PhD theses. As a Project Leader, he has successfully secured and completed multiple research grants. To date, he has published over 55 ISI-indexed scientific papers and 28 international conference papers, with a total of 5,967 citations and an H-index of 35 as of November 2025, according to Google Scholar. He is recognized among the Top 2% Scientists in the World for six consecutive years (2020-2025) by Elsevier and Stanford University. Professor Fazal has also contributed as a guest editor for journals such as Frontiers in Materials (IF: 3.985), Materials Research Express (IF: 1.8), and Energies (IF: 3.252). Additionally, Dr. Fazal is a member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE, UK), and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng-2016) with the Engineering Council, UK.
