Abstract:

Single aminoacid tyrosine derivative is self assembled and intercalated with sol-gel  silicate to form a zero-gel membrane. The assembled membrane is characterized by UV-Visible,IR ,SEM,AFM and theoretical studies. The results confirms the intercalation of the nanotubes with silicate pores .The membrane is tested for the removal of toxic metal and dyes from the contaminated water samples It is observed that the membrane is effective in the removal of water and adsorption of chromium ions in the waste water it is proposed that the pore size and the adsorption of metal  ions with aminoacid is the mechanism of the cleanup.
